Every week, I perform a free SEO audit to help a small business in Perth. Today I’m helping a painting company called Perth Premier.
This review is based on the keyword “painter perth”, performed on 22 August 2017.
Perth Premier are currently sitting in position 7 in the local map pack and position 13 in the Google organic search results.
So what can Perth Premier do to get higher rankings?
Local SEO Tips For Perth Premier
I’ll start off with local SEO. Local SEO is all about rankings in the map pack.
I’ll start by doing some competitive research for the local results by reviewing their map listing compared to their competitors.
In order to improve their local rankings, Perth Premier should:
- Add more images to their Google My Business Listing (last time they added images was in 2015)
- Ask for more reviews from their customers (currently they only have 2 reviews)
- Align their Business name, Address and Phone Number on their website with their Google My Business Listing
- Build more citations and do a citation audit

I’m now going to move onto what Perth Premier can do to improve their organic search rankings.
Technical SEO Tips For Perth Premier
Technical SEO is all about looking at website structure to determine whether there are technical SEO issues.
A simple way to see if there are any issues is to do a site search.
In this case the search is site:perthpremier.com.au
Next is to check page load speeds at https://gtmetrix.com/
Finally check duplicate content issues at http://www.siteliner.com/
Based on the above, I believe perthpremier.com.au have the following technical SEO issues they need to fix:
- They need to use an SEO plugin to stop their blog category pages from being indexed
- They need to work on improving their page load speeds
- There url silo structure can be improved
Next I’m going to look at Perth Premier’s on page SEO.
On Page SEO Tips for Perth Premier
On page SEO is all about what you can do on the web page to improve rankings.
The below table shows the comparison of Perth Premier’s top 3 competitors:
Website | Word Count | LSI Score | Title | Density | H1 | URL |
www.barker-whittle.com.au/ | 623 | 94.65 | Yes | 0.96% | Yes | No |
www.jimspainting.com.au/painters/perth/ | 910 | 99 | Yes | 1.54% | No | Yes |
www.residentialpaintersperth.com.au/ | 935 | 93.51 | Yes | 0.86% | No | Yes |
http://www.perthpremier.com.au/ | 728 | 98.5 | No | 1.37% | Yes | No |
Based on the above, I believe perthpremier.com.au have the following on Page SEO issues they need to fix:
- Include the keyword Perth Painters in their Title tag
- Add more content to compete with Jim’s Painting & Residential Painter’s Perth
- Although their LSI score is good they can still improve to compete with Jim’s
Next I’m going to look at Perth Premier’s off page SEO.
Off Page SEO Tips for Perth Premier
Off page SEO is all about the quality of links pointing back to the page.
The below table shows the comparison of Perth Premier’s top 3 competitors:
Website | DA | PA | TF | CF | Ref |
www.barker-whittle.com.au/ | 25 | 37 | 7 | 37 | 174 |
www.jimspainting.com.au/painters/perth/ | 24 | 16 | 20 | 21 | 87 |
www.residentialpaintersperth.com.au/ | 20 | 33 | 5 | 27 | 28 |
http://www.perthpremier.com.au/ | 13 | 20 | 0 | 0 | 79 |
Based on the above, I believe perthpremier.com.au need to increase their domain and page authority to compete with Barker Whittle and Jim’s Painting.
They can do this by:
- Writing and publishing a press release
- Setting up and posting to a syndication network
- Creating directory listings
- Seeking out industry relevant guest posts
- Looking at their competitors link profile
Finally I’m going to talk about user engagement.
User Engagement Tips for Perth Premier
User engagement is all about how visitors engage with your website.
Google Analytics shows user engagement metrics like bounce rate, time on site and number of pages visited.
I don’t have access to Perth Premier’s Google Analytics account, but based on looking at their website these are the items I would improve to boost user engagement:
- Turn their phone number into a click to call button
- Reduce the amount of menu items (Google Analytics will tell them which pages are their most visited – these are the pages that should be on the menu)
- Improve page load speeds as seen in the technical SEO section.
Well that’s all I have for today. I hope you’ve found this free SEO audit insightful.
